Good customer service is not dead.

This review is less about the gear which worked great, but more about the service. My wife was hired to photograph a proposal on the South Island. It was going to be atop a snow-capped mountain so I wanted her to be safe. So I went on to the Gearshop and ordered her the Kahtoola MicroSpikes. This idea was so last minute that I thought they might not get to me on the North Island on time since her departure which was less than 72 hours away. I contacted the Gearshop and a sales rep named Mike said that they could have my purchase shipped out the same day. True to his word, less than 48 hours later I received my shipment and was able to surprise my wife with them. She loved them! Thanks, Mike for making it all happen. Customer service like that needs to be recognized.

    Warmly,

    Ed Nunez

    Highly recommend

Seen these spikes were recommended by many others so gave them a go!

First time using them I went up to Fanthams peak on Mt Taranaki and if you have climbed this you will know it’s very steep, I was a tad concerned that the 10 mm spikes wouldn’t give me enough purchase in the steep icy sloop and was thinking I will need crampons but they got me up and back down without any slip. I would be confident in wearing them to the summit and back down. Very light weight and don’t roll round under foot.

This was my experience with the micro spikes, I’m not suggesting you buy these over crampons if you intend on taking on challenging hikes But they are definitely worth every penny

    Resilience & Traction, At-The-Ready.

These microspikes were a godsend during my Easter Weekend ascent of Mt Taranaki. They handled the conditions very well, and are incredibly resilient for such an economic price. Had a few envious looks over what a good idea they were/are, too. Great on scree, rock, and ice. Can't recommend these enough.
