Seemed to do the trick. Only difficulty was they did ball up with snow a bit. But that was probably related to the conditions rather than the product.

Easy to put on and take off. Felt very secure on hard packed snow in their first outing. Light and compact for carrying.
Fit nice and snug to my hiking boots, and do their job so well you forget you've put them on! Nice and compact and (fairly) light considering what they are (good for multi-day hikes in icy conditions). Highly recommend!
Used these on a recent trip to the summit of Mt Hector in mixed snow and ice.
The ground covered included stony patches which I think is what caused one of the links that joins two of the spike plates together to get twisted slightly to the point where they separated. An easy fix with pliers.
As the spikes are only 8mm high, these links and the chains are more prone to striking the ground than other brands that have taller spikes.
Advice is to use them judiciously, preferably only on snow or ice and avoid rocks if you can.
A good product, works well. Needs care to select the correct size as a secure fit is important. Very difficult for an older person without much hand strength to fit on their own.
