I got this filter 2 yrs ago for travel in India and later local use in NZ. The Pros: it is really easy to use, durable, requires minimal maintenance and the filter is seriously good so that even viruses get caught. The Cons: for solo tramping it is a bit on the heavy side and (in NZ) it is perhaps a bit over the top with filtration performance since water borne viruses are not (yet) a big problem. The big con is that it is very expensive. Conclusion: if you have the money, this filter is definitely worth it despite the weight. The performance and reliability are excellent, the maintenance is simple, and filter lasts 10 times longer than a lot of others (and does a better job). If you filter a bit of water do the economics (look at the price of the other replacement filters knowing that you will need to do this 5-10 times before replacing the Guardian filter) then start thinking about the extra maintenance needed for other filters (back flushing).
