Warm but touchscreen usability impaired

I bought these as I'm out on the bike all day as a cycle courier.

I bought these gloves as they are a single piece (no liner) so they would be easier to put back on if taken off while wet.

I put them on on the first rainy day and was disappointed to find that touchscreen usability was impaired. My index finger worked okay, but just for prodding, while my thumb didn't work most of the time. I have heavy reliance on my phone at work so this is a deal breaker. It's possible that this issue is caused by an air gap between the end of the glove and the start of my finger. I will reluctantly try the next size down and see if that makes a difference.

The other issue with these gloves is that they are quite slippery. I suppose the patterned ridges are designed to alleviate this. I still found that I needed to be more careful than usual.
